Our Story

At Nyam, we believe that food is more than nourishment, it’s storytelling, it’s heritage, it’s connection.

Our mission is to introduce Oslo to the depth and soul of authentic Jamaican flavours with elevated culinary artistry, rooted in genuine Jamaican culture, reflected in every meal.

Nyam was born from a shared passion for Jamaican food, culture, hospitality and a desire to bring the warmth and spirit of Jamaica to Oslo.

Founded by three— Jamari, Ama and Nico — Nyam began with a simple idea: to create a place where people could experience authentic Jamaican flavours, culture and community.

With Jamari’s and Ama’s culinary backgrounds and a shared love for bringing people together, what started around the dinner table has grown into a restaurant, catering and cultural food experience reaching communities across Oslo and Scandinavia.

Inspired by Jamaica’s motto, “Out of Many, One People,” Nyam is about bringing people together through great food, genuine hospitality and the spirit of Jamaica.

The journey

From pop-ups to something of our own

What started as an idea rooted in Jamaican food, culture and good times has grown into something we’re incredibly proud of.

Along the way, Nyam has had the pleasure of popping up at Dattera til Hagen, Fuglen and Yng Bar & Social, as well as catering countless events, parties and gatherings for people who simply wanted a taste of what we’re about. Every plate served, every sold-out pop-up, every “this is so good” and every person who came back for more has meant the world to us.

Thank you, Oslo, for welcoming Nyam with open arms, showing up hungry, spreading the word and getting excited about Jamaican food. Your support has given us the chance to grow into something even bigger.
